The demonstrator presents an EDA software prototype and development environment aiming at improved time, quality, and cost in system level design. In contrast to existing work, the EDA software realizes a flexible, unified, and cohesive design approach following the lambda chart model. The administration, communication, and computation view can be separately or cooperatively explored. The EDA software also simplifies an integration of designer’s knowledge guiding system-level design. First, a design space exploration scenario, connecting separate exploration tools, is defined via a graphical frontend or an XML file. Dynamic exploration strategies are additionally supported by including loop and branch statements. Afterwards, the scenario is automatically executed through an integrated software engine. Moreover, an exploration framework is shown accelerating an implementation of exploration tools. A realistic case study for multi-core design proves the concept. The scenario includes application modeling, IP core dimensioning, application mapping, IP core mapping, and performance evaluation as separate exploration tools. Finally, the demonstrator implements a meta design methodology allowing for design methodologies covering parts of or even anentire system level design.
