Given the Java program, Sashimi is responsible for generating and customizing Java bytecodes and different VHDL versions of the Femtojava Processor, depending on the application requirements. Femtojava is a Harvard-architecture, stack-based processor that executes natively a reduced instruction set of Java bytecodes. An MP3 player that decodes a 24kHz/16Kbit stereo MP3 sample file is presented.
