COREP was founded by the initiative of the Politecnico di Torino in December 1987, with the participation of several regional associations (e.g. the regional government of Piemonte, the Torino City Council, the Chamber of Commerce, the Industrial Association of Torino) and companies (e.g. Digital Equipment Corporation, Fiat, Olivetti, IRI). The consortium, located at the Politecnico, provides specific services in common initiatives between the academia and industry. The main activities of the organisation are continuing education, master degree courses, educational experimentation, research, technology transfer activities and industrial liaison. The initiatives of continuing education in engineering and architecture are at university level and available in either short or long-term courses, meeting the specific industrial needs.

The Master courses are: European Master in Environmental Engineering, Master in Property Development and Planning, Master in Telematics and Multimedia Applications, Master in Safety Engineering, Master in Ergonomics, Master in Technology and Multimedia Communication and a Master in Management of cultural activities.

Part of the continuing education activities are accomplished in the framework of approved projects funded by the EU. In this frame the Consortium has developed a wide network all over Europe with a large number of partners among Universities, Consortia and Research Institutes. COREP belongs to the European associations for advanced-level training in the technological fields.

Other educational activities:

  • Didactic experimentations that are not yet included in the university system.
  • Organization of international summer schools.
  • Multimedia video and production centre, supporting the training activities.
  • Editorial service.
  • COREP offers the cross co-ordinating structure between academia and industry allowing the management of mutual projects.

COREP is currently involved in the following projects:
